The prospect of another imminent major piece of legislation impacting Private Landlords - this time, the prospect of a wholesale change to the assessment of energy efficiency in residential properties with a much revised EPC system together with a significantly revised Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) legislation which will enforce a further increase of the standards of rental property, insulation, energy efficiency and a possible downgrading in terms of EPC points for Carbon based energy sources used including mains & bottled gas and oil for heating & hot water boilers.

2. Identify how to prepare for an EPC assessment of a property to obtain best results.

3. Understand what should take place during an EPC assessment of a property and the opportunity for EPC ‘what if’ modelling to take place before report is finalised

4. Fully Interpret the EPC report and understand the options open to improve property rating and which improvements will most improve scores.

5. Understand the many retrofit opportunities available to improve your EPC score that are not included as recommended measures on EPC report.

5. Understand possible grant funding options including ECO4, Great British Insulation Scheme, the brand new Warm Homes: Local Grant Scheme the various resources & support organisations who can advise.

6. Look to the future and plan how to achieve likely future MEES minimum EPC ratings using, if appropriate new low carbon technology.

7. Obtain the latest updates on enhancements/updates to EPC SAP assessment software together with current consultations on planned legislation on a new EPC system plus upgraded Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)
